What this is

What counts as Business glossary?

A business glossary is the difference between a catalog that lists what tables exist and a catalog that explains what those tables mean. The strongest implementations link each glossary term to the assets that embody it (the "active customer" term to the table that defines it), propagate ownership and tags through that linkage, and version the definitions over time. A linked, versioned glossary is the clearest signal a catalog is in active stewardship rather than passive metadata collection.
